for Mother’s Day…
12 05 2007… Slate.com leads with three posts honoring the day –
- ‘Why it’s OK to praise your kids’ by an author who I respect, but shit– is this truly something today’s American parents need to hear? Today’s whiny-ass ‘my-kid-didn’t-make-the-A-team’ parents? Sigh. Maybe so. Because maybe they need to figure something out: it’s NOT about them. Even on Mother’s Day.
- ‘Books you shouldn’t buy me for Mother’s Day’: Mommie Dearest applies. Plus anything by Virginia Woolf. But some Dr. Seuss action? That I can go for on Mother’s Day. That and a Simpsons marathon. Because Marge is the shit.
- ‘Great Magnum photos of moms’ — so yes there are some good ones posted, but nothing that compares to this baby, sent to me by my nephew earlier today — of his mom/my sister (it’s kind of a ‘Find Waldo’ scenario — heh heh):
