Trawling for Thoughts

28 01 2007

Since I haven’t an original thought at present, I’m going to borrow from my BlogBuds:

Karla had a day of beauty, getting all gussied up and shit for a party. Me? I took a bath and shaved the same leg twice. It’s really, really smooth. The other one? Not so much.

Bookhart’s daughter, who is three, said something quite cute about farting. The Littlest’s dog, who is three, just farted. One of these is charming, and again, the other–NOT.

Also, Bookhart has a new book called Pat the Money. I have a similar tome, entitled Pat the Politician:

Now, I’m off to trawl for more…

Yummy Day

26 01 2007

As Badger and La Turista have noted, the sun been shinin’ round here. Which is a good thing, as I was starting to think I’d fallen asleep in Austin and awakened in Seattle. Not that there’s anything wrong with Seattle, but I live in Austin, land of the sun. So we’ve had two days of sun, cool breezy afternoons, and open windows around here.

In other news, my quite awesome hair stylist friend did my ‘do on Wednesday, and me likey. I took pictures this morning before washing it, because other than color it will look completely different when I get through with it. My hair was long and straight all my teenage years, so to say I’m inept with a blow-dryer is a HUGE understatement. I really do love my hairstylist, and plan to take Karla there when she’s next in Austin. Because what Karla wants, my friend can do.

In other news, I have a profound respect for my blogger buds who’ve posted their haircuts. I kept shooting half-head pictures. Or my butt. Bad news all around.

Now I’m about to jump into my favorite couch, in the downstairs that I just cleaned–a couch which has three huge draws:

  1. It’s not upstairs, where all the laundry is.
  2. It’s right by the kitchen for maximum snackage.
  3. It’s currently loaded with a bunch of stuff for me to hang with, like a couple of unread Rolling Stones and about six unread New Yorkers, along with two Marthas (also untouched), a bottle of water, my laptop, favorite quilt, remote, pen and paper, a book, and cell phone.  Plus the compilation of Cooks Illustrated from 2006.  I’ve stopped getting the magazines each month, opting to go straight for the collection at the end of the year.  For obvious reasons.

It also has the study guide/homework for a bible study that I said ‘yes’ to because I really like the group, and the beginning program only goes through Easter so I can bow out then if necessary. The thing is that the program is written/filmed by a well-intentioned sweet woman who waves her hands in the air and shouts out to God alot. And I’m one of those Episcopalians who really loves my tradition, and Bach, and lots of historical context with my bible. Plus the very word ‘homework’ gives me a rash.
