Help
21 07 2006In need of advice: stay with Blogger or move to WordPress? Here are my thoughts:
Blogger pros: the blog is already here; ‘about me’ options are clever; everyone’s cute little pictures post in my comments section (I know, that’s lame, but give me a break– I’m a visual person).
Blogger cons: slooooooooow at times; has had periods of losing or not allowing entries/comments.
WordPress pros: blog spread over several servers; will transfer the whole blog (including comments); has tag categories; in correct format to print a book*.
WordPress cons: no cute pictures (still bothered by that); the navbar says ‘howdy amamgets’ (argh); can’t edit templates, so I would need to build my own, which I have been wanting to do, after I get the next three portraits painted, and GoLive down pat, and the laundry folded…
*The whole reason I started looking at WordPress was on the recommendation of a company that will publish your blog for a somewhat reasonable fee (let’s just say I can earn it in one afternoon of shooting pictures). Many hours have gone into this little guy over the last 8 months, and it has kept me sane during some seriously stressful times. I want a permanent record — complete with comments.
SO, I need help. Big. At this point, I can hear the Clash singing in my head (”this indecision’s killin’ me…) and it’s going to make me crazy pretty soon.
Mmmm. I’ve heard many complaints about Blogger, but I must confess I’ve had few or no problems (except for one time I lost this massive and beautiful post about bird watching - but that’s another story).
But having someone design a nifty template for you, well, that sounds grand!
Toss a coin!
